An Introduction to the Christians that meet on Northtown Road

A little about us

We are a group of New Testament Christians who meet not too far from your home.  It is our desire to honor and glorify God by imitating first century believers in doctrine and practice as they honored God.  We hope that when you look into God's book and then look at us, you will see a consistency in our lives with what you have read.

It is our intention to be Christ-centered, God-glorifying, Bible-based, and truth-loving.  By being responsive to God's grace in heartfelt obedience, we have found forgiveness, hope, peace, and joy in Jesus.  We recognize that many people have been unhappy by the hypocrisy they have witnessed in many of the churches today....that man-made systems of faith leave a void rather than fill it....and there is simply too much begging for money.

The church that is just a church

Maybe you've noticed that a lot of churches today are involved in all kinds of business and social ventures, and very little in teaching the word of God.  Some are quite proud of the fact that they place little emphasis on doctrinal matters.

Our emphasis is spiritual---not material or social.  For that reason, our main concern is that we abide in, and teach, the doctrine of Jesus Christ.  This requires that we pay close attention to the Bible, and treat it as our sole guide in spiritual matters.

It is our aim to be the very same church as the one we read about in the New Testament.  We do not claim perfection in our attempts to follow the doctrine of Christ, but neither do we use our imperfection as an excuse.  We are always willing to examine ourselves as to whether we are in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5)

The Bible clearly tells us that the Lord's church is "a spiritual house" (1 Pet. 2:5).  The New Testament tells us how to conduct ourselves in the church, which was designed to uphold the truth (1 Tim. 3:15).

If you are looking for a church that is merely a "front" for a social club or agency, we're not for you.  But if you share our interest in searching the scriptures in order to learn what the will of the Lord is, then we'd like to hear from you.

The church you read about in the Bible

Like the church of the first century written about in the Bible, we are independent and non-denominational, our only allegiance being to Jesus and one another.  We have no ties to any religious organization larger than ourselves and no creedal connections to anyone else.  We have  a common relationship with all responsive believers wherever they may be and a practical, working relationship with those believers in this area who are a part of our fellowship.  This is what we find when we study the history of the early church in the book of Acts.  It is our firm conviction that only the truth can set us free (John 8:31f) from sin, the guilt sins brings and spiritual ignorance.  We are convinced it is God's truth revealed in scripture that provides us with all that we need to have an abundant spiritual life.

We urge you to investigate the Bible, if you have already spent time in its pages, do so again....allowing it to speak to you.  Seek answers from the pages of God's book.  The word of God is like a seed planted in the soil of the human heart that has tremendous potential, if allowed to germinate and grow, to supply answers and solutions to our deepest needs and most perplexing problems.  We can be safely led through the dark quagmire our religious landscape has become.

We are not only building faith, we are building friendships

An assembly of the church should not be a gathering of "familiar strangers."  We are attempting to be a spiritual family that is striving to provide mutual support and love....an environment of caring and involvement that goes far beyond the walls of our meeting place.  One of the greatest gifts that we can give to one another is to allow the love of Jesus to be lived out in our interpersonal relationships.  We are a family...involved in aiding one another on our journey to heaven.  Won't you join us?

Our invitation to you

We would like to invite you to investigate us.  Visit our assemblies and share in the profitable studies we engage in as we have Bible classes for children, as well as adults.  You will not be embarrassed or put on the spot.  Our classes are designed to develop our faith and to empower us to live God-honoring lives.  The studies are conducted by dedicated teachers who prepare diligently and present their material enthusiastically.

If you would prefer a less public setting, we would gladly set up a time where we could meet, at your convenience, at a place of your choosing, to answer any questions you might have about us, what we believe and practice, or to simply open God's book and learn what He has in store for us.

If you would like to study the Bible, but are not certain you want to do it with anyone at this juncture, we also offer a Bible Correspondence Course, free of charge, that we will gladly sent to you.  We also have CDs of all our sermons available upon request.

So, please come and visit with us.  We would be genuinely glad to have you join us at any of our assemblies and we will treat you as an honored guest.  We believe you will find a warm and friendly welcome and we hope you would want to return again and again.

We are experiencing the joy and peace that is found in serving Jesus and one another.  We want to share this joy and peace with you.
